Science day

We had a fun day of science today.  We used a science kit called Food for Thought - He Kai mā to Hinengaro.

"Each ingredient in a product formula or recipe adds different functionally. Adding or removing an ingredient can alter the structure, texture, colour and taste of food. Why do jellies wobble? What is curdled milk? Is popcorn really a seed? Why does heat make corn kernels pop? What is gluten? What does it look like? What does it feel like? What is the difference between baking powder and baking soda? How do you add or remove moisture from food? The activities in this kit allow students to explore the answers to these, and many more questions in a hands-on engaging way. Lots of mess, but lots of fun too!!"

Final kindy visit for 2019

We had our final visit to Tōtara Park kindergarten for 2019 today.  It was a very special day as all of us were presented with a Manaakitanga pātai for our kindness to our little buddies, and given an iceblock too - perfect weather for a cool treat!  We performed waiata before we left, and said our farewells.

We will miss our friends.  Thank you for hosting us every week!

Expert SOS!

We have spent this year doing lots of mini research projects as a class about different creatures and plants.  We are working on becoming more proficient using devices to do our own mini research project on a creature of our choice.  We identified what things were tricky about doing research online:
...then we called on some experts for support.  Kia ora, Kea!
